River soundings — kept in the North Ink stack.

Edition 998,018 of 1,000,000,000. 100 shapes, mostly rectangles, mostly slate. It sits in block 117,718, minted with that block's other 4,999 editions, scattered across the billion.

Ink has browned at the edge. Surveyor Khan set it down in a punched card, and the sheet shows tape along the fold.
