The Linen Proof

№ 0009806987

Common

Winter bird counts — kept in the North Ink stack.

Edition 9,806,987 of 1,000,000,000. 100 shapes, mostly lines, mostly cream. It sits in block 155,272, minted with that block's other 4,999 editions, scattered across the billion.

Ink has browned at the edge. Keeper Walsh set it down in soft pencil, and the sheet shows a hairline tear at the foot.

It is folio 987 of Alder 1, in the Last Walk, North Ink stack. The place-name on the slip no longer exists.
