The Distant Sketch

№ 0059903024

Common

Winter bird counts — kept in the North Glass stack.

Edition 59,903,024 of 1,000,000,000. 100 shapes, mostly circles, mostly rust. It sits in block 12,287, minted with that block's other 4,999 editions, scattered across the billion.

Ink has browned at the edge. Proofreader Rahman set it down in typescript, and the sheet shows fibers lifted where a label was peeled.

It is folio 24 of Pine 1, in the Last Court, North Glass stack. The instrument was recalibrated the next morning.
