The Worn Sketch

№ 0051208009

Common

Railway delays — kept in the North Glass stack.

Edition 51,208,009 of 1,000,000,000. 100 shapes, mostly lines, mostly rust. It sits in block 73,574, minted with that block's other 4,999 editions, scattered across the billion.

Ink has browned at the edge. Registrar Rahman set it down in a wax rubbing, and the sheet shows a thumbprint in the margin.

It is folio 9 of Hazel 1, in the Long Aisle, North Glass stack. The instrument was recalibrated the next morning.
