The Ochre Label

№ 0428701002

Common

Winter bird counts — kept in the Upper Brass stack.

Edition 428,701,002 of 1,000,000,000. 100 shapes, mostly triangles, mostly rust. It sits in block 33,457, minted with that block's other 4,999 editions, scattered across the billion.

Filed without a date. Binder Abebe set it down in typescript, and the sheet shows fibers lifted where a label was peeled.

It is folio 2 of Elm 1, in the Wide Range, Upper Brass stack. The instrument was recalibrated the next morning.
