The Amber Receipt

№ 0401003003

Common

Well depths — kept in the Upper Ink stack.

Edition 401,003,003 of 1,000,000,000. 100 shapes, mostly hexagons, mostly brass. It sits in block 5,327, minted with that block's other 4,999 editions, scattered across the billion.

Filed without a date. Surveyor Marin set it down in needle pricks, and the sheet shows fibers lifted where a label was peeled.

It is folio 3 of Pine 1, in the Long Gallery, Upper Ink stack. The instrument was recalibrated the next morning.
