The Black Seal

№ 0020406002

Common

Railway delays — kept in the North Brass stack.

Edition 20,406,002 of 1,000,000,000. 100 shapes, mostly rectangles, mostly tangerine. It sits in block 32,873, minted with that block's other 4,999 editions, scattered across the billion.

Ink has browned at the edge. Clerk Marin set it down in iron-gall ink, and the sheet shows a hairline tear at the foot.

It is folio 2 of Alder 1, in the Quiet Cloister, North Brass stack. The instrument was recalibrated the next morning.
